Skies

Look how the floor of heaven
Is thick inlaid with patines of bright gold.
There’s not the smallest orb that thou behold’st
But in his motion like an angel sings.

We are far enough north for the days to be noticeably longer in summer and shorter in winter than in England. The sky can be bluer here than you have ever seen it. The great towering clouds that sail in from the Atlantic are a constantly changing feature of the scene.

As the sun drops into the ocean the sky can be gold, silver or red.

There is no light pollution here so the visitor can experience the full glory of the stars as they have been seen by man throughout the ages stimulating his imagination and intellect. Any special events such as eclipses, lunar events or meteor showers can be seen to their best advantage.

In the winter months the northern lights, Aurora Borealis, are often visible.
